The success of Honeymoon Travels Ltd is great news at a time when some biggies like Eklavya , Salameishq have not quite worked . The film with no big stars was obviously made for the multiplexes where such films have a chance . The film has also supposedly done well outside ,
The success of the film with no big stars & only good actors is great news for outsiders who want to make it big . Every year such films work & keep the belief that unconventional good films if well publicized do work . last yesr we had Pyar ke Side effects , Khosla Ka Ghosla , Dor , Gangster & Page 3 was there in 2005 . this definitely encourages newer breed of intelligent directors to take hindi cinema forward with original scripts.

IS FILMFARE FAIR?

Filmfare is considered to be the Oscars of India . But is it really a fair awards . As compared to the Academy where the deserved films & actors, irrespective of the star power, in it get the best awards. Is it the same in the hindi movie’s biggest awards . Lets investigate –
Best Film - 1.Don 2. Dhoom2 3. kank – do these movies desreve to be nominated ahead of Dor , Khosla ka ghosla , Being Cyrus , Gangster & some more good movies that have come this year . Well any film buff & filmmakere true to his heart will say a direct no . thankfully KKG was at least given an award for agood original script . the others were not even seen
The directors of the above mentioned were also given a miss for the popular ones being nominated .Even in the actors category one saw many glaring names missing . The absence of ayesha takia for Dor among the actresses , Shiney for Gangster , Shreyas for Dor ,Kangana for either of her films ,the two pillars of Khosla .. Anupam & Boman & Ranvir shorey for his 2 wonderful performances in Khosla & Side effects . these were some of the glaring actors missing from the awards . The other glaring thing is Arshad Brilliant Circuit being given the comic Actor instead of the supporting Actor obviously to give the particular ward to a much popular face . even Akshay not getting nominated or Janeman is surprising
As compared to this , the Oscars had an unknown Helen Mirren getting an award ahead of Penelope & Winslet , Whitaker ahead of more popular Leonardo & Will smith . this goes to prove that perhaps the Oscars is fairer than the popular hindi awards .
Can we also assume that the Filmfare vouches for popular faces rather than new ones irrespective of wether they deserve it or not . The only way Filmfare can come closer to the Oscars is by giving the nominations to the best movies rather than buttering star egos .
But to be fair to them this year at least the awards went to the right people Rang De , Lage Raho…. & Omkara , Hrithik ,Arshad definitely deserved it .
